Mount Union received all 25 first-place votes and remains the unanimous number one team in this week's D3football.com Top 25 poll. Capital moved up one spot to eighth, Ohio Northern jumped two places to ninth and Baldwin-Wallace fell to 17th, while John Carroll broke the Top 25 in 24th place. You can see the entire Top 25 here.

Mount Union defeated Heidelberg 62-3 this afternoon at Frost-Kalnow Stadium in Tiffin, Ohio to run its record to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
For the first time this season, the Raiders didn't score in the first minute of the game. But that's because the Student Princes got the ball first. The Purple & White did score on its second play from scrimmage, a 49-yard run by Nate Kmic.
The junior running back finished with four touchdowns on the day, rushing for 123 yards on 18 carries, giving him 4,023 career rushing yards and making him Mount Union's all-time career rushing leader.
Greg Micheli completed 13 of 17 passes for 196 yards and three scores, one each to Pierre Garcon, Bryson Davis and Cecil Shorts. In addition, Scott Thomas rushed for his first career touchdown.
Defensively, Mount Union recorded eight sacks and limited Heidelberg to minus nine rushing yards and just 102 total yards, while the Raider offense generated 570 total yards.
Mount Union gets back in action next Saturday with a trip to Ohio Northern. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Dial-Roberson Stadium in Ada, Ohio.

Mount Union received 39 of a possible 40 first place votes to remain number one in this week's AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll. Capital, Baldwin-Wallace and Ohio Northern each moved up one spot to seventh, 10th and 11th this week. You can see the entire poll here.

The Purple Raider JV football team improved to 3-0 with a 26-7 win over Washington & Jefferson this afternoon at Mount Union Stadium. You can see the entire junior varsity squad's schedule and results here.

For the third time in three games this season, Mount Union scored less than a minute into the contest en route to a 62-0 win over Muskingum this evening before 5,672 fans at Mount Union Stadium.
Greg Micheli set a personal best with four touchdown passes while Pierre Garcon had a career high three touchdown receptions.
Terrance Morring led all rushers with a career high 106 yards, Nate Kmic scored three more times and Nick Barren returned a fumble for a touchdown as the Purple Raiders led 35-0 after one period and 56-0 at halftime.
Mount Union finished with 690 total yards while Muskingum managed just 45. The Raiders hit the road for the first time next Saturday, with a match-up at Heidelberg. Kickoff from Frost-Kalnow Stadium is set for 1:30 p.m.

The Mount Union Purple Raiders begin the 2007 season where they ended the 2006 campaign, atop the AFCA Division III Coaches’ Poll. Mount Union received 39 of 40 first place votes to earn the top spot in the first poll of 2007. The Purple Raiders have been ranked number one or number two in every season-opening AFCA poll dating back to the inaugural poll in 1999.
Mary Hardin-Baylor received the other first place vote and is ranked second, while St. John's (MN), Wis-La Crosse and St. John Fisher round out the top five. Ohio Athletic Conference rival Capital is ranked eighth while Baldwin-Wallace is 11th and Ohio Northern is 12th in the poll, while John Carroll received votes.
The AFCA Division III Coaches’ Poll is in its ninth season in 2007. A Board of Coaches made up of 40 AFCA-member head coaches from NCAA Division III schools around the country votes each Sunday for the top 25 teams in Division III. You can see the entire poll here.

In addition, Mount Union's junior varsity football team opened it's season with back to back wins. They defeated Wooster 47-9 on Sunday and Ashland 28-6 yesterday. You can see the entire JV football squad's schedule and results here.

Mount Union racked up 727 yards of total offense in defeating Otterbein 58-14 this evening in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for each team.
Greg Micheli was spectacular, completing 22 of 26 passes for 365 yards and three touchdowns. Nate Kmic rushed for 126 yards on 13 carries and scored three times, while Justin Wray led all receivers with six catches covering 64 yards and two touchdowns.
Terrance Morring and Cecil Shorts also added touchdowns, while Mike Zimmerman booted three more field goals and was perfect on seven point after tries.
The Raiders led 21-0 after one quarter, 42-0 at halftime and 55-0 through three periods. Next up is Muskingum next Saturday at Mount Union Stadium with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.

CSTV.com spent time at Mount Union College yesterday, interviewing Head Coach Larry Kehres and some of the players, as well as trying to stop Brandon Boehm from catching passes from by Greg Micheli. They didn't do so well. You can see the video here.

Mount Union is the unanimous number one team again in this week's D3football.com Top 25 poll. Capital remained 11th, while Ohio Northern moved up two spots to 12th and Baldwin-Wallace jumped ten places to 14th place. In addition, John Carroll received votes. You can see the entire Top 25 here.

Mount Union set a NCAA record with 52 first quarter points in route to a 75-7 victory over Averett this afternoon in front of 3,632 fans at Mount Union Stadium in the season opener for both teams.
The defending Division III champion Purple Raiders broke the previous record of 50 points, scored by Alabama State in the second quarter against Prairie View in a 1991 contest.
Nate Kmic went 65 yards for a touchdown on the game's first play from scrimmage, the first of four touchdowns for the junior running back. He finished with 151 yards on just seven carries in one quarter of play.
Greg Micheli completed all nine passes he attempted for 123 yards, with one rushing score. The Raiders played four quarterbacks in the first half and five overall, combining to complete 17 of 18 passes for 222 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Kurt Rocco connected with Trevor Bruney from 39 yards out for the scoring play.
The Purple & White also scored three defensive touchdowns. James Herbert returned a Matt Kostelnik blocked punt 10 yards for a score, Matt Williamson returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown and Drew McClain set a Mount Union record with a 100-yard interception return.
In addition, Mike Zimmerman was perfect on three field goals and nine extra points, while Ryan Wilk added a field goal.
Following a bye next week, Mount Union will open Ohio Athletic Conference play on September 15th against Otterbein. Kickoff from Mount Union Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m.
