Mount Union had six players named to the D3football.com 2007 Division III Football Preseason All-American Team, including five First-Team selections. The rest of the Ohio Athletic Conference garnered a total of four players while no other team nationally had more than three players on the squad.
Named to the First-Team were senior offensive linemen Derek Blanchard and Eric Safran, senior wide receiver Pierre Garcon, senior safety Matt Kostelnik and junior running back Nate Kmic.
In addition, junior quarterback Greg Micheli made such a splash in last year's national championship game, he was named to the Second-Team without any career starts. You can see their entire Preseason All-American Team here.

Mount Union received all 25 first-place votes and is the unanimous number one team in D3football.com's 2007 Division III Football Preseason Top 25. The Purple Raiders are the preseason poll's first unanimous choice for number one since they turned the trick in 2003.
Wis-Whitewater, the runner-up in the last two Stagg Bowls, is ranked second in the poll, followed by St. John's (MN), Mary Hardin-Baylor and St. John Fisher to round out the top five.
Capital is ranked 12th and Ohio Northern 17th in the poll, while Baldwin-Wallace received votes and just missed cracking the Top 25. You can see the entire poll here.
The D3football.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, including myself. This is the fifth season for the poll.
