Mount Union dominated Washington & Jefferson in a controlled scrimmage today in Alliance as each team prepares for the 2006 regular season opener next Saturday.

The Purple Raiders seemed to move the ball effortlessly on offense, while defensively the Purple & White were very stingy, especially against the run.

Mount Union opens at Averett next Saturday with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. in Danville, Virginia.  In preparation, we've posted the 2006 Team Roster, which you can see here.

It begins today, the quest to defend the school's eighth football national championship.  Optimism is very high around Alliance, Ohio as one of the largest groups ever to prepare for a football season is doing just that at Mount Union College.

There is a lot of talent wearing purple, white and black, as many key members return from last year's squad, along with a great deal of new young members from a terrific recruiting class.

It all begins for real three weeks from today in Danville, Virginia as Mount Union opens on the read against Averett, with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. at Cougar Den Stadium.

You're first chance to see the Raiders will come in two weeks when the team participates in a controlled scrimmage with Washington & Jefferson at Mount Union Stadium on August 26th beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The scrimmage has become an annual home and home event with the Presidents and is open to the public. Stay tuned though, as that is a tentative date and time, and is subject to change.
