Fans will notice
another improvement when visiting Mount Union Stadium this season as renovations have
begun on an upgraded scoreboard.
The new
scoreboard display system, based in part on LED (Light Emitting Diodes) technology, will
include an upgraded text capability, a feature-rich control system and a 4.3 trillion
color animation process.
The new
scoreboard display system is expected to be fully operational when the Purple Raider's
open the 2005 season at home vs. Washington (MO) on September 3rd. It replaces the
scoreboard that was installed at the stadium in 1994.

Mount Union was picked to win its 14th consecutive conference football championship today
at the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Football Media Preview, held this year in
Cleveland, Ohio. The 16 time OAC football champions were tabbed number one by nine
of 10 head coaches and 33 of 34 media personnel covering the event.
Head coaches do
not vote for their own team and I guess winning an NCAA record 104 consecutive
regular season games was not enough to sway one brilliant media member into giving the
Purple Raiders his vote. Ohio Northern was picked to finish second in each
poll. You can see the entire results of both polls here.
D3football.com
has posted its 2005 Division III Football Preseason Top 25. Mount Union is ranked
third in the initial poll with one first place vote, while defending national champion
Linfield received the other 24 first place votes and is ranked number one, followed by
2004 Stagg Bowl runner-up Mary Hardin-Baylor. Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio
Northern claimed the fifth spot while Capital begins the season ranked 19th.
Baldwin-Wallace also received votes. You can see their entire Preseason Top 25
here.
