Mount Union Head Coach Larry Kehres has been named the Division III American Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year for an unprecedented seventh time ('93, '96, '97, '98, '00, '01, '02).  The announcement came at the 80th annual AFCA Convention being held this week in New Orleans, LA.

Kehres guided the Purple Raiders to an 11th consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference championship, third consecutive national championship and seventh national title overall this past season.  The Purple Raiders have won 42 consecutive games, the longest current streak in the NCAA, and 96 of the last 97 games played.  Kehres has a career record of 192-17-3, a winning percentage of .913, in 17 seasons.

The AFCA Coach of the Year award is the oldest (1935) and most prestigious of all the Coach of the Year awards and is the only one chosen exclusively by the coaches themselves.
