Mount Union College, in coordination with the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), will be featuring Service Day this Saturday when the Purple Raiders play Marietta in football at Mount Union Stadium.
Several service-oriented events
will take place, including Take a Kid to the Game Day, in conjunction with
the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Children 14 and
under, accompanied by an adult, will receive free admission to the game.

Mount Union remains number one in this week's AFCA Division III Coaches’ Poll, released today. The Purple Raiders again received 48 of 49 first place votes. John Carroll remains 13th, while Baldwin-Wallace and Capital also received votes. You can see the entire poll here.

Mount Union's JV football team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 28-7 victory this afternoon over Thiel at Mount Union Stadium. The Purple Raiders' junior varsity squad will finish its season November 4th vs. John Carroll at Mount Union Stadium with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. You can see the JV football schedule and results here.

Mount Union defeated Capital 38-22 in front of 2945 fans at Bernlohr Stadium in Columbus today to claim sole position of first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Purple Raiders improved to 6-0 in conference play and 7-0 overall.
Mount Union led 31-8 at halftime and outgained Capital 341 yards to 29 in the first half, finishing with 494 total yards compared to 205 yards for Capital, but four Purple Raider turnovers kept the Crusaders close in the second half.
Running back Dan Pugh tied a career high with 40 carries, and set a new personal mark with 213 rushing yards. The senior scored twice to lead the Raiders ground attack. Quarterback Rob Adamson completed 11 of 23 passes for 217 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions, while wide receiver Randell Knapp had five catches for a career high 120 yards and one touchdown. Wideout Derrick Leach had two catches, both of which went for touchdowns, and 82 receiving yards.
Mount Union has now won 35 consecutive football games, college football's longest current winning streak. Next week the Purple Raiders host the Marietta Pioneers at Mount Union Stadium with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.

Mount Union's JV football team defeated Tiffin 49-26 over the weekend to improved to 5-0 on the season. You can see the entire junior varsity football schedule and results here.
Mount Union rolled past then-No. 8 John Carroll, 35-16, on Saturday to maintain its No. 1 ranking in this week’s AFCA Division III Coaches’ Poll. The Purple Raiders again received 48 of 49 first place votes and have been ranked No. 1 for 25 consecutive polls dating back to October 3, 2000. You can see the entire poll here.

The Purple Raiders used three quarterbacks in beating the Blue Streaks for the 12th consecutive time. Rob Adamson used his arm, throwing for three touchdown passes and 132 yards on 9 of 16 passing, while Zac Bruney and Jesse Burghardt each used their legs. Both quarterbacks had long touchdown runs on quarterback draw plays late in the third quarter. Bruney's 55-yard run gave the Purple Raiders a 28-9 lead, and following a quick Blue Streak score, Burghardt scampered 45-yards to push the advantage to 35-16.
Running back Dan Pugh had 72 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown reception, while wide receiver Randell Knapp had six catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
The key to the game was the Mount Union defense. The Purple Raiders harassed John Carroll quarterback Tom Arth all afternoon, limiting him to 148 passing yards, intercepting him once, causing him to fumble twice and sacking him six times. Arth left the game with a shoulder injury early in the fourth quarter.
With the win, Mount Union extends college football's longest current winning streak to 34 games. Next week the Purple Raiders travel to Capital to take on the Crusaders with kickoff set for 2:00 p.m.

According to the latest AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll, released today, Saturday's match-up between Ohio Athletic Conference rivals Mount Union and John Carroll in Alliance will be a battle between two top ten teams. The Purple Raiders received 48 out of a possible 49 first-place votes and are again ranked number one, while the Blue Streaks moved up three spots in the latest poll and are rated number eight. Quarterback Rob Adamson returned from an injury to complete 10 of 15 passes for 164 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Zac Bruney also saw significant playing time, throwing for 147 yards on seven of ten passing.
12 different Raiders caught a pass during the game, led by wide receiver Derrick Leach's three grabs for 59 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Nick Sirianni and running back Brian Miller also caught touchdown passes.
Running back Dan Pugh led the Mount Union ground attack with 130 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns, all in the first half. Jeff Strauch had 43 yards on eight rushes and scored three touchdowns and Rick Ciccone had seven carries for 54 yards.
Place kicker Chad Teague was perfect on the afternoon, converting seven of seven extra points and making all four field goal attempts, including a career long 36 yarder to finish the scoring in the fourth quarter.
Mount Union extends college football's longest current winning streak to 33 games with the victory. Next week the Purple Raiders host John Carroll at Mount Union Stadium with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.

Mount Union's junior varsity football team posted a 35-0 shutout over Baldwin-Wallace tonight at Mount Union Stadium. The Purple Raiders were led offensively by freshman wideout Scott Casto, who had two touchdown receptions, and defensively by freshman Ross Watson, who returned two interceptions for touchdowns. The JV team is now 3-0 on the year and faces Muskingum in New Concord next Monday. You can see the entire JV football schedule and results here.

Running back Dan Pugh set a school record with five first-half touchdowns, leading the Purple Raiders to a 45-0 halftime advantage. Pugh rushed for 162 yards on 17 carries, including touchdown runs of 1, 3, 4, 15 and 63 yards.
Josh Liddell added a second quarter score, one of three receptions for 90 yards on the game for the tight end, and running back Rick Ciccone finished the scoring with a fourth quarter touchdown, and totaled 80 yards on 11 carries.
Quarterbacks Zac Bruney and Jesse Burghardt again shared signal calling duties. Bruney completed 5 of 11 passes for 80 yards while Burghardt was a perfect 5 of 5 passing for 98 yards and one touchdown.
Place kicker Chad Teague added two field goals in three attempts to round out the scoring as Mount Union totaled 562 offensive yards while limiting Otterbein to just 82 on the afternoon.
Mount Union extends college football's longest current winning streak to 32 games with the victory. Next week the Purple Raiders return home to host Heidelberg during Community Day/M-Club HOF Day at Mount Union Stadium with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.

Pre-registration cost is $10 and registration the day of the clinic beginning at 8:45 a.m. is $12. Participants will learn cheers, chants, a mini dance, push-ups and jumps taught by MUC cheerleading coach Stephanie Pietrocola-Unckrich, the 2002 Purple Raider cheerleaders and MUCaw. Each participant will be invited to join in the pre-game activities at Mount Union Stadium at 1:00 p.m. before Mount Union faces Heidelberg and will also be invited to join in push-ups following the Purple Raiders’ first score.
