The eighth 2001 AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll was released today. Mount Union
remains number one, grabbing 45 out of a possible 47 first place votes. Widener (one
first place vote) is second, Washington & Jefferson (one first place vote) third,
Bridgewater (VA) fourth and Montclair St. fifth. Rounding out the top ten are
Augustana (IL), Hardin-Simmons, Rowan, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Western Maryland. You

Mount Union's JV football team played well
last night in beating Washington & Jefferson 54-0. The junior varsity improved
to 8-0 on the year and will conclude its season Monday evening at Mount Union Stadium with
a matchup against John Carroll. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. You can see all

The Mount Union College SID's office has posted a preview of this weekend's Ohio Athletic
Conference match up between Mount Union and Baldwin-Wallace, which is Parents' Day at

Mount Union defeated Muskingum today 48-7 in New Concord, scoring on every offensive
possession until their last one when they ran out the clock to end the game.
Chuck Moore rushed for 76 yards on eight
carries and scored three times. He became the first running back in Purple Raider
history to rush for 1000 yards in three different years. He now has 1066 yards on
the season.
Dan Pugh and Mike Deitrick each scored a
rushing touchdown, while starting quarterback Rob Adamson completed 12 of 13 passes for
269 yards and one touchdown. Jesse Burghardt also threw for a touchdown, completing
two of three passes for 26 yards in the contest.
Jason Candle had four catches, while Jason
Richards and Josh Liddell each had three. Derrick Leach had one catch, which
resulted in a 77-yard touchdown for the Raiders.
Mount Union generated 592 total yards of
offense, while limiting Muskingum to just 181 on the afternoon. The Purple Raiders
host Baldwin-Wallace next Saturday in Alliance with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.

Mount Union's JV football team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 41-22 victory over
Tiffin tonight at Mount Union Stadium. The junior varsity team has two games
remaining in its season, a trip to Washington & Jefferson next Monday and then a home
contest against John Carroll on November 5th. You can see all of the junior varsity

Mount Union defeated Capital today 52-13 in Alliance to win it's 21st consecutive football
game. The Purple Raiders used a strong defense that allowed just 30 yards on 32
plays and two Crusader first downs in the first half, to build a 35-0 lead at the
intermission.
Quarterback Rob Adamson completed 16 of 26
passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Chuck Moore had 165 yards on
20 carries, and scored three rushing touchdowns. Running back Dan Pugh also rushed
for more than 100 yards, tallying a career high 133 yards on 19 carries and one
score. Wide receiver Jason Candle caught four passes for 125 yards and two
touchdowns, while wideout Derrick Leach also caught a touchdown pass for the Purple
Raiders.
Mount Union had 559 total yards in the game,
compared to just 230 for Capital. Next week the Purple Raiders travel to Muskingum
with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
The 2001 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl will be played in Salem (VA) on Saturday, December 15th
at... 8:00 p.m.! Yep, that's right, Division III football has gone prime time.

11th in this weeks poll, while Saturdays opponent, Capital, also received some

on the season with a 28-14 victory at Baldwin-Wallace last night. The junior varsity
team has outscored its six opponents by a combined score of 234-26. You can see all

Mount Union soundly defeated Wilmington this afternoon 54-6 in Ohio Athletic Conference
action.
Chuck Moore scored four touchdowns in the
contest, including two rushing, one receiving and one on a 94-yard kickoff return to open
the football game. He finished the game with 244 all-purpose yards.
Dan Pugh added two rushing touchdowns, Derrick
Leach had a touchdown reception, and Matt Sotcan returned an interception 26-yards for a
score.
Rob Adamson completed 11 of 22 passes for 198
yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Mount Union had 359 total yards in the game,
while holding Wilmington to 129 yards, including just 18-passing yards.

Union Stadium. The Purple Raider JV's are now 5-0 on the season, outscoring its

Mount Union was very impressive tonight in posting a 47-0 victory over Marietta in Ohio
Athletic Conference play. The Purple Raiders led 40-0 at halftime, averaging over 19
yards per play in the first half.
Chuck Moore carried the ball nine times for
202 yards, becoming the all-time leading rusher in Mount Union football history. He
now has 3,318 yards, surpassing Russ Kring's 3,295 yards in the mid 1980's. His
202-yard effort was also a career best. Moore scored touchdowns on runs of 15 and 44
yards, while Dan Pugh added two scores on runs of three and 39 yards.
Rob Adamson completed six of ten passes for
233 yards and two touchdowns. His touchdown passes were to Jason Candle for 83 yards
and Derrick Leach for 94 yards.
The Purple Raiders amassed 674 total yards to
the Pioneers 183. Next week Mount Union travels to Wilmington with the kickoff set
for 1:30 p.m.
