Rob Adamson completed 16 of 25 passes for a career high 326 yards and three touchdowns, including third quarter tosses of 54 and 67 yards for scores to Jason Candle. The Purple Raiders led 13-7 at halftime but put the game away with 19 unanswered third quarter points.
Candle had six catches for a career best 215 yards and two scores, while Derrick Leach had a first quarter three-yard touchdown grab. Chuck Moore scored twice and picked up 146 rushing yards on 25 carries, while Dan Pugh had 74 yards on 20 rushes.
Mount Union had 545 yards of total offense, while limiting Augustana to 216. The Purple Raiders advance to the quarterfinals and will host Wittenberg next Saturday at Mount Union Stadium with kickoff set for 12:00 p.m.

On defense, the Purple Raiders had the OAC's best at lineman, linebacker and defensive back. Junior defensive end Matt Campbell won the Paul Hoernemann Award as best defensive lineman, senior outside linebacker Jason Perkins grabbed the Bill Edwards Award as best linebacker and junior cornerback Chris Kern won the Lee J. Tressel Award as best defensive back.
In addition, Defensive Coordinator Don Montgomery was named OAC Assistant Coach of the Year as his defensive unit allowed just 8.6 points per game and 216.1 yards per contest. Congratulations Purple Raiders!

Moore holds the record for most points scored in Ohio Athletic Conference play (462 pts) and is the all-time leading rusher in Mount Union history (3,942 yds). This season, he has rushed for 1,351 yards (7.5 avg) and has scored 24 touchdowns. He is a Business Administration major.
The Gagliardi Trophy is awarded to a Division III player who excels in athletic achievement, academic success and community service. It is presented by the Jostens, Inc. and the J-Club of St. John's University in Collegeville (MN).
Mount Union's Jim Ballard won the inaugural award in 1993 and Bill Borchert won the trophy in 1997. You can see the entire list of past recipients here.
Moore was also the top vote getter in being named to the Verizon Academic All-District IV Team this past week.

Augustana defeated Defiance today in First Round playoff action 54-14 and will meet Mount Union for the fourth time in each school's football history. The Vikings lead the all-time series 2-1 with Quarterfinal Playoff wins in both 1985 (21-14) and 1986 (16-7). The Purple Raiders' victory came in 1999 Second Round playoff action (42-33).
The winner of next Saturday's match up will face the winner of the Wittenberg/Thomas More winner in the North Bracket final on Saturday, December 1st.

Those named First Team on offense were Jason Candle (WR), Rodney Chenos (PK), Adam Indorf (OL), Ed Malone (OL), Chuck Moore (RB) and Dan Pugh (RB). Named First Team defense include Todd Braden (DL), Matt Campbell (DL), Chris Kern (DB), Jason Perkins (LB) and Stan Watson (LB).
Second Team offensive selections include Rob Adamson (QB), Larry Kinnard (OL) and Josh Liddell (TE). Rocky Coniglio (LB), Alex Grinch (DB), Jeff Knoblauch (DL) were named Second Team defense.
Mike Miller (DB) and Jason Richards (WR) were named Honorable Mention.
The 19 Purple Raiders selected to the All-Conference squad represents the second most ever from a Mount Union team. The '97 National Champions had 20 players earn All-OAC status. Congratulations Purple Raiders! You can see the entire All-OAC Team here.

Rob Adamson was 13 of 19 for 201 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in limited action. Chuck Moore carried the ball 11 times for 100 yards and scored once, all in the first half.
Dan Pugh had a career high three touchdowns and 147 all-purpose yards, while Jason Candle caught four passes and threw another to Jason Richards for a 42-yard touchdown.
Jesse Burghardt and Zac Bruney each contributed touchdown passes, while Tom Sanor recorded a score.
Mount Union had 652 yards of total offense on the afternoon, while limiting Heidelberg to just 198. The Purple Raiders have the longest current NCAA win streak in any division, which now stands at 24 games

After a scoreless first quarter, the Purple Raiders led 10-3 at halftime and added a third quarter touchdown to round out the scoring.
Rob Adamson completed ten of 18 passes for 122 yards, while tight end Josh Liddell had a personal high seven catches for 97 yards. Running back Chuck Moore had a game high 185 yards on 33 carries and a touchdown, while backfield partner Dan Pugh tallied 72 yards on 16 carries and a score.
Moore set the Mount Union single season record with his 23rd touchdown of the year. Defensive end Todd Braden also set the Purple Raider single game record with four sacks on the afternoon. Mount Union recorded a total of seven sacks in the game.
The Purple Raiders were held without a touchdown pass for the first time in over ten years, dating back to October of 1991. The 135 consecutive games with a touchdown pass is a NCAA record.
Baldwin-Wallace was held to just 40 yards of offense in the second half and finished the game with 167 compared to Mount Union's 349 yards of total offense.
