D3football.com has posted their Division III All-American Team. Five Purple Raiders where named to the squad. First Team Raiders include WR Adam Marino and OL Jason Gerber. Making the Second Team were QB Gary Smeck and OL Bill Rychel, while LB Jesse Pearson was named to the Third Team. Congratulations Purple Raiders! You can see the entire team here.

Mount Union took an early 7-0 lead on its first possession of the game after an eight-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Gary Smeck to tight end Adam Irgang but running back Chris Moore scored from one-yard out to tie the game for St. John's late in the first half.
The tie remained until Chenos' field goal on the final play from scrimmage in the game gave the Purple Raiders a 10-7 victory and fifth national championship.

An Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl preview has been posted by the Mount Union College Sports Information Department. Mount Union is making it's fifth trip to the Division III national title game, winning the championship in its prior four trips... 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998. St. John's has appeared in one Stagg Bowl, winning the title in 1976. You can read the official game preview here.

The Purple Raiders exploded for 28-unanswered third quarter points to blow open a 12-point halftime lead and jumped out to a 63-23 advantage at the end of three periods. They then cruised to a forty-point win at Mount Union Stadium over the Pioneers.
Adam Marino caught 17 passes to tie a playoff single game record. He totaled 239 receiving yards and scored three touchdowns, while Chuck Moore ran for 145 yards on 16 carries and scored four times. Gary Smeck finished the day 23 of 30 passing, for 327 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Look for our complete game recap tomorrow.

The Purple Raiders surrendered a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage by the Tigers, but took the lead with a defensive touchdown and led 14-6 after one quarter. The Raiders increased that lead to 26-6 at halftime, 32-9 after three quarters and closed out the game with a 17-point victory.
Mount Union will face Widener next Saturday at Mount Union Stadium It will be the first ever meeting on the football field between these two schools. It also marks the sixth consecutive season Mount Union will be playing in the Division III Semi-Finals and the eighth time in nine years. The winner will face the winner of the St. John's - Hardin-Simmons contest for the National Championship in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in Salem (VA) on December 16th.
