Mike Jorris threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. Jorris entered the contest as the nation's leader in quarterback efficiency and has now completed 99 of 144 passes for 1,502 yards, 15 touchdowns and three interceptions on the year. Jorris connected
with Pierre Garcon twice in the first quarter, opening up a 14-0 lead.
The first touchdown came from 14 yards out while the second covered 44 yards
on the Raiders next possession.
Aaron Robinson caught Jorris' third touchdown of the afternoon in the first minute of the second period on a three-yard pass play. It was Robinson's first touchdown reception to go along with eight rushing touchdowns in 2005. Robinson broke the 100-yard rushing mark for the third straight contest, matching a career best 137 yards on 20 carries and one rushing score on a 20-yard scamper late in the game. He has clearly become the ground leader in the Raider attack with 482 yards midway through the season. Scott Casto
caught Jorris' final touchdown toss of the game three minutes before
halftime. Casto had a fine day with 10 receptions covering 141 yards.
He has 35 catches for 576 and four touchdowns so far in
2005. Mike Zimmerman booted two field goals and was perfect with five extra points in the contest. The sophomore place kicker has connected on four of five field goal attempts and 31 of 33 PAT's this season. Wilmington's only points came with four minutes remaining when a sideways pass hit the ground and it looked for a moment like a number of Raiders thought the play might be over as an incompletion. That was the step Marque Jones needed as he grabbed the ball on the bounce and raced down the visitor's sidelines for a 68-yard touchdown run. That one play pushed the Quakers total offense to 189 yards on the day. Mount Union generated 633 yards of total offense, 396 through the air and 237 on the ground. Defensively,
Mike Gibbons led the way with 11 tackles and one and a half sacks.
Matt Kostelnik and The Purple Raiders improve to 5-0 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. Next week a trip to Marietta awaits. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Don Drumm Stadium. The Pioneers enter the contest 2-3 overall and 1-3 in conference pay. Last year Mount Union blanked Marietta 57-0 in Alliance, and have won 25 straight in the series dating back to the Pioneers last victory in 1977.
